Established in 1994 to provide services for families and communities who have been affected by SIDS (Cot Death), SIDS New Zealand Incorporated is a national organisation of parents, families and friends of children who have died suddenly and/or unexpectedly of any cause including SIDS.
To support, represent and advocate for parents and families who have suffered a sudden infant death and require or use respiratory monitors.
To provide up to date information and resources to these parents and families.
To provide support, training, education and other services to parents, families, volunteers, professional health workers, support services and other community groups from the perspective of both the parents and SIDS New Zealand.
To liase with and support parent support groups and the other people in the community working with SIDS.
To co-ordinate public awareness campaigns.
We are looking for SIDS parents or grandparents (anywhere in NZ or the Chatham Islands) who are available to be trained as telephone responders on the SIDS Helpline in their own area. For further information:
